Now that the 2019 cricket season has ended, the post-season ground works are well underway at Blunts Wall Road! As with every year, Essex have fraze mowed the squares on both pitches to remove the top layers of soil before re-seeding them with new topsoil.
In addition, we have also seen renovations and improvements to the net pitches on the North square. The pitches have had 30mm of top soil removed and replaced with Ongar Loam, which has been laser levelled to ensure the pitches are completely flat! They have been re-seeded, and in addition we will be installing an artificial weave into the surface, creating hybrid pitches which will last longer and provide a better quality netting surface for all members throughout the year! We will share updates later in the year.
Groundsman Danny has been hard at work this week, as can be seen in the pictures below! Be sure to give him a follow on Twitter to see more ground updates throughout the year, he can be found @dannyrouse85
